description of the projecT: 3D Live once again teamed up with Dell, this time to bring an out of this world golf experience along with the PGA to the World Golf Championships. On February 6th, 1971 Alan Shepard tee’d off from the surface of the moon and now you too can take swings from the only driving range in our solar system that allows you to boost your follow-through with the benefit of lunar gravity. With Earth as your tranquil backdrop you’ll be able to improve your shot to lengths even the pros will envy.
Later incarnations of the project include integrating "holographic" 3D LED for spectators to be immersed in the VR environment powered by Unreal Engine. The player inside of VR is hitting their virtual golf ball in front of the 3D LED so to the audience gets to see the ball virtually fly down the driving range. with the combination of the headset and the 3d led, vr is No longer a singular experience. it theoretically opens the headset for thousands of people who can now be simultaneously immersed in a groundbreaking event. The installation was active until the winter season at the microsoft store on 5th ave in manhattan.
